Privacy Policy

Living with the Word ("LW", "we", "our") is built with privacy as a core principle, not an afterthought. This policy explains exactly what data we collect, what stays on your device, and the choices you have.
What stays on your device — always

- Your personal reflection answers
- Your Amen moment comments
- Your notes
- Photos you take during a recording
- AI-generated summaries, key points, verses, and reflection questions
- Full transcripts
- Session metadata (date, name, preacher, duration)
- Audio recordings (stored locally until you choose to delete them)
These are your personal thoughts and responses to God's Word. The app has no database and no user accounts. All session data is stored exclusively in your phone's local storage and is never transmitted to our servers.
Photos
When you take a photo during a recording, it is saved in two places — both entirely on your device:
- Within the app, attached to your session summary
- In your iPhone's Photos library
Photos are never uploaded to our servers. They are not included in the audio upload and are not processed by any AI service. Only you can see them.
What we collect
- A random device identifier generated on first launch — not linked to your name, email, or any personal information. Used only to enforce a weekly usage limit.
- Your audio recording — temporarily uploaded for transcription, then immediately deleted from our servers.
- Your device push notification token — used only to notify you when processing is complete.
Audio recordings
When you stop a recording, the audio file is uploaded to our servers solely for transcription. The audio file is permanently deleted from our servers immediately after transcription is complete. It is never retained, analysed for any other purpose, or shared.
What is stored on our servers
Our servers are stateless. We do not store your transcripts, summaries, session data, or any personal content. The only things temporarily held server-side are:
- Your audio file — during transcription only, deleted immediately after
- Your device push notification token — to send you a notification when processing is complete
- An anonymous weekly usage count — in memory only, resets every Monday and on every server restart
Third parties
We use the following third-party services to process your data:
- OpenAI (Whisper API) — processes your audio for transcription. Subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic (Claude API) — generates summaries, key points, verses, and reflection questions from your transcript. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell your data to any third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
Data deletion
You can delete all your data at any time from within the app via Settings → Delete All My Data. This permanently removes all session data, reflections, notes, and photos from your device. Because your personal data is never stored on our servers, there is nothing server-side to delete.
Data security
All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS. Your personal reflections, comments, notes, and photos are never transmitted and therefore cannot be accessed by us or any third party.
Children's privacy
Living with the Word is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app.
